CS Consulting were commissioned by Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) to carry out an update of its existing Mobility Management Plan. The CIT Mobility Management Plan (MMP) was first prepared in 2002 and has subsequently been updated in 2009 and again in 2012.

The overarching purpose of the CIT Mobility Management Plan (MMP) is to reduce the dependence on private cars for travel to and from CIT, primarily through the promotion and facilitation of more sustainable modes of transport such as public transport, cycling and walking. In tandem with this, the MMP seeks to ensure that continuing private car use is managed efficiently, is not unduly incentivised, and causes the least possible disruption to all users of the CIT campus and to other local stakeholders.
